Pages Of The Sea
Filmmaker Danny Boyle today announced details for The Pages of the Sea, commissioned by 14-18 NOW to mark the centenary of Armistice Day. On 11 November 2018, the public is invited to gather on beaches across the UK for an informal, nationwide gesture of remembrance for the men and women who left their home shores during the First World War.
Millions of people served in the First World War and many left from beaches around the UK. On Sunday 11 November, the public is invited to assemble at one of 30 beaches at low-tide to take part in a series of community-led events. Sand artists from Sand In Your Eye have designed 30 large scale portraits of casualties from the first World War which will be drawn into the sand at each location and washed away as the tide comes in. In addition, the public is invited to assemble at low-tide to watch the drawing, as well as creating their own silhouettes of people in the sand, remembering the millions of lives lost or changed forever by the conflict.
We were honoured to be asked to design all the sand portraits and create a 60 metre portrait of Wilfred Owen on the day. We have written about our experience of the event on our blog, please follow this link to read

It's hard to believe that with all the exhibition sand sculptures and large event centrepieces, in the beginning it all started with a just simple bucket 'n' spade. We are now blessed with being able to make professional sand sculptures that both tickle the imagination, and truly stop people in their tracks.
Mother Nature's canvas, the beach continues to inspire us with wondrous landscapes for sand art. We have learned to work with this ever-changing material, mastering 3D anamorphic images to the point where our beach art has been recognized globally and heralded by TIME magazine.
We can create anamorphic pavement art and huge scale land art pieces. From street art to grass painting, we love to paint in the great outdoors! We can also work on indoor mobile commissions too. We love to push the boundaries as far as we can, so set us a challenge!
Learning the secrets of snow and ice sculpting whilst working at the Ice Hotel of Lapland. We use our skills and expertise as professional ice sculptors to bring Christmas stories to life with enchanted ice sculpture trails, and live interactive carving, where we demonstrate the versatility of chainsaws and chisels.
All Halloween pumpkins have a personality and as professional pumpkin carvers we just help them find themselves. They are not shy; a Halloween pumpkin loves to attend parties, PR functions and be on TV!
Continually innovating and coming up with new ideas yet to be thought of allows us the potential to make and create our extraordinary pieces of art. Pushing the boundaries and advancing what we have done before, not only keeps the Sand In Your Eye team on its toes, but also makes the headlines.
Learn the tricks of the trade in sand, snow and ice sculpture, sand drawing, pumpkin carving and light art. We offer everything from corporate team building events to workshops with little tots and families. We can now run pop up workshops, why not give them a try for your next event.
Here is a gallery of some of our past work and videos too. Take a look and see what we have been up to. We are constantly working on new projects and innovations to keep pushing the boundaries of what we do.
Sand In Your Eye are a friendly bunch of folk from an array of backgrounds, making us a dynamic team that like to collaborate, innovate and create!
